Have a Heart for HavenThe General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) Persimmon Hollow Woman’s Club hosted Have a Heart for Haven Hospice, a champagne brunch to benefit Haven, Feb. 13 at the home of Teresa Apgar in DeLand. The GFWC is an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. | Pet therapy brings comfort to Haven Hospice patients Even the tiniest dog is lionhearted, and the same can be said of Mia, a five-month-old Jack Russell terrier who visits with patients at the Tri-Counties Hospice Care Center. “She has a sense when she’s here of what she has to do,” says her owner. Patients welcome Mia like a gift. “It’s soothing for them and they love to pet her.” |
